- How to get a first draft done quickly
- Thinking about what’s important (and what’s not) for the first draft.
Welcome to my online crime writing workshops. Together, these workshops provide a comprehensive guide to becoming a successful crime fiction writer. They cover, among other things, understanding the market, deciding what to write, approaches to plotting and character, avoiding clichés, and the importance of location in crime fiction.
They also look at the practical side of writing: networking with other writers, submitting to agents and getting published.
The workshops are published below. A new workshop is published on the second and fourth Thursday of every month.
The workshops are completely free. If you’d like to take part, simply subscribe using the 'sign up' box on the left and you’ll receive an email alert each time a new workshop is published. If you have any other questions, then please feel free to contact me directly: Contact Sheila
I also offer a range of writing services, including editing, synopsis advice and mentoring. Full details available here: Writing services
